Exquisite Corpse
Invented in Paris in 1925 by Surrealists like André Breton, Yves Tanguy, Jacques Prévert, and Marcel Duchamp, ‘Exquisite Corpse’ is a Surrealist parlour game where players collaboratively create a drawing by adding to a composition in sequence, each folding the paper to hide their contribution from the next person, leading to bizarre and unexpected results.
I adapted the classic game into the 21st century by adding one extra step at the end - asking A.I. to turn the creatures into photo realistic people.
The project is a comment on how in today’s society, what is left on a piece of paper loses its meaning. For it to become real, it must become digital.
