‘Lapses in Time’ is a 10 minute looping audiovisual artwork that envisions the environmental changes that have occurred on planet Earth throughout its existence.
The project uses a combination of hand drawn sketches and A.I. GauGAN tools to compress hundreds, thousands, even millions of years of change into a series of timelapses.
The formation of mountains, the rise of the sea, the destruction of a forest - ‘Lapses in Time’ shows narratives of change that are usually hidden by time.
The artwork aims to poke fun at humanities reluctant attitude towards climate activism and imagines a reality where planet Earth has to adapt it’s slow evolutionary process to the short attention spans of humans, almost as if the planet has it’s own TikTok account designed to warn humans of the inevitable threat of climate change.
