Incognito Art Exhibition

The ‘Incognito Art Exhibition’ is a multidisciplinary group show highlighting artistic talent based in the Netherlands.

Often we see and experience art through the lens of the artist’s reputation, biography and institutional ties. But what happens when you enter an exhibition without any preconceived notion of what you will see? The ‘Incognito Art Exhibition’ was conceived to put this to the test.

All participating artists were invited to show their works under one clause - they would keep their identities hidden until the opening of the exhibit. The exhibition acts as an opportunity for visitors to enter the space freely, without any prior inclination or knowledge of what they will see. The anonymity was not used as a statement, but as an invitation to see and experience art in a different way.

The location might seem like an ordinary empty warehouse, but the space has deep historical ties to the art world. Gyroscoopweg 19 was once a fine art storage facility that housed works from iconic art figures such as Rembrandt. The exhibition reintroduces art back into the building’s walls, but this time with new voices from the art world.
